Christmas Island
Get your insulated cup of cocoa ready. Christmas Island is a short 15 minutes away from our cabin, (which has its own sparkling tree through the holiday season).
Located on Lake Cumberland, Christmas Island is 400-acres–it’s Kentucky's one and only island park. Known as Burnside Island every other season of the year, it transforms into Christmas Island, a winter wonderland from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.
Christmas Island is home to a fantastical drive-through light display draped with thousands of lights. It boasts an impressive 48 imaginative light displays, including some that stretch up to 104-feet-long and 16-feet-high, to be exact! If that doesn’t sound magical enough, Santa Claus and the Grinch have also been known to make an appearance. Not only is it the perfect family outing, but proceeds benefit local charities. So flip on your seat heaters and cruise over through Burnside’s holiday best.
